Today, 2024 presidential hopeful Mike Pence applauded the end of Roe v. Wade, calling a person’s constitutional right to an abortion a “historic wrong.” Pence’s response comes after a leaked report that the Supreme Court’s Republican appointees have voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, carrying out the next step in the Republicans’ years-long effort to end the right to abortion.
This is a deeply unpopular decision that is opposed by a majority of voters who do not believe Republican politicians, like Mike Pence, should have the final say over whether a person gets an abortion.
Pence: Constitutional Right To Abortion Is A “Historic Wrong”
During his time as a spineless Republican lawmaker, Pence has said Roe should be “sent to the ash heaps of history” and that it’s his “philosophical position to oppose abortion.” Pence helped oversee the appointment of three Republican Supreme Court Justices while serving as Donald Trump’s vice president — laying the foundation for Republicans to ban abortion with zero exceptions for rape or incest.
